Is this bad for my synths

Jackin_J

Analog synth addict
I have a rack with about: 10 synths inside and since i am a lazy bastard when i switch everything off i just hit the mains button instead of turning off every device. Will this damage the machines??

To be honest I do the same thing (even with all my vintage stuff). I think there was once a large discussion on the Analogue Heaven forums about this subject, and final conclusion was that it isn't required (or better) to switch them off one by one... (that's why I'm putting them off by two general switches).
Only if I don't use one or more particular synths for a while I put them off particularly.

The thing that is more problematic than that is heat build up between devices if the rack is packed.

My Emax wigged out because of rack stack.

Yeah my rack is pretty packed. In my big rack i have: (from top to bottom) Tascam FW-1804, Yamaha FS1R, Roland Varios, JV-2080, VP-9000, Planet Phatt, FB383, Waldorf Q, Rm1-X

I am thinking of installing fans but am worried about the noise.
