I'm really confused about these two.
Someone that owns SP says SU is crap, SU users say that SP is crap.

So, what's it gonna be?

Which one is better for sampling live drums and bass an making loops out of them and playing them live?

thanx!

for live usage go with the su

both machines have nice and bad things about them
but if your main use will be for live, you'll be better of
with the su..

goodluck

I had the su700 for a while, and have to say, that I would strongly recommend against it. I was happy with it at first, but then when I compared it to what was available on PC, there simply was no comparison. If you're considering playing live, it may be a good choice, but otherwise I couldn't see myself using it at all.

I've owned both briefly and I say the SU700 is the better overall machine.

sampling - SU700 (this is the best feature to me. 8 or 16 bit sampling!)

sequencing- SU700

effects - SP808 but the su700 is ok too.

MIDI- same

Storage- SP808

load time- SP808- even with the SCSI the su700 loads slow as hell. they might have fixed that with a newer OS now. i don't know.

polyphony- su700

pads- su700

hope that helps.

sp808...

i had both sp808ex(red) and sp808(black)
i used it for storage, like vocal, hooks
(since i do all my beat on other gear)
i think you should go with sp808...
get sp808 black one and upgrade the OS to ex version, it's easy n saves money... 100mb zip disk(30-40min streo,1hr mono) is enough.
4trck recorder is great to finish your project...
i used to run my beat thru aux input.
1trk:lead vocal
2trk:hooks and covering vocal
3trk:scretching, sefx samples...
bounce all 3 traks to 4trk...
go with sp808
