Is this possible?

Is it possible to record a hardware synth(fantom, virus, etc) into Reason + Record? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Reason, no. Record, yes. Just connect your synth to your interface. Assign those inputs inside of Record.

Ok thanks. In Reason 5, you can record also so I thought you can do it through Reason as well?

Reason 5 can Record samples so yes you could do it but it would be a pain in the ass to do so vs just paying the extra for Record or rewiring to a DAW and working that way. I would advise not even buying the hardware unless you have it for a specific purpose.

So it comes in through the interface.

In Record, assign the input on the interface to a channel for recording and hit record. Done. EQ and effect as needed once recording is complete.

If in further doubt, check out Record-U first

While you can record audio with Record it does not have MIDI output, so you can't use Record or Reason for sequencing hardware using MIDI.

What he means is you cannot sequence the notes from your keyboard into Reason. You can only Record audio into Reason and Record. Being that you are misunderstanding basic concepts of production it may be better for you not to buy a Fantom. Just work with Reason for a while

Agree. Buying a ton of sh** will not make you any better. It really will just over complicate things for you at this time.
