Old School baby: Akai s900/950 - are they worth it?

I'm looking at getting a low end hardware sampler and I was wondering if any of you have played with the s900/950 and if so, would you reccomend it and if so, what for? does it work badly for certain things? well on others?

i plan on getting one of those to along with my mpc2000xl. i want it to use mainly for drums since they dont have much memory but do have the 12bit sound

yeah. they got a great old school sound which the "clean" samplers of today can't successfully make.
And there's something cool about having a sampler with a dedicated output for each voice... or maybe I'm just daft.
