I know this is a stupid question, but what is the correct pronunciation of "Akai"? I've heard different pronunciations and don't want to be butchering the word. Thanks.

actually the correct Japanese pronounciation is
"ah-ka-EE" with the empahsis on the last syllable. But nobody, not even mostJapanse, will properly pronounce it. The more common version is "ah-KAI", kai sounds like sky.
