sound card for laptop music production

any one have any recommendations for a sound card for my new laptop?
I want something with good quality sound. a place to hook up my krk monitors and a line in for my record player as the minimum
should i be looking at an external sound card?
any help is appreciated

I have just got the Focusrite Saffire 6 USB audio interface for my Laptop. You have two mono inputs which are the 1/4 jack type. You have Phono and 1/4 jack for 4 outputs, which is ideal for DJ. This interface has two high end mic preamps, with zero latency. This is fully powered off the USB so no PSU is needed, and its made from hard steel.

On the downside, I have found the output level not high enougth, but the speakers you have should be fine. I have connected my desktop speakers which are normaly so loud when connected to my desktop PC, that i would not need to go behond half way. When connecting these speakers to the Saffire 6, even full volume is not all that loud.
 
i also have the saffire 6 and love it. but the headphone amp is a little on the weak side but a nice audio interface.
