MIDI

mmhhhh... are you selecting "MIDI IN 1" (or whatever the midi port is called in your system)? Make sure you do.. most of the time it is not automatic

mmhhhh... STRANGE... i used cakewalk for a while... are you sure? what is the midi interface you have, is it plugged to the joystick connector of your soundcard or is it a dedicated interface?

it's throuygh the gameport.. which i have determined to be the problem...
so i'm gonna get a new one, any suggestions on what's a good card for production purposes?

no it will work man, it's fine, especially if you are staritng to use MIDI.

you should see the midi port named "SB LIVE MIDI IN" or something like that... you choose this port in cakewalk as the default input port, and then you will control any track you select.

press REC and play some notes on the track in order to see if cakewalk is getting any data from the keyboard

also, make sure you plug the Keyboard OUT to the IN of the PC.

let me know if you got it to work

doesn't work for me either

Hi..

I've got the same setup - Cakewalk and a MIDI interface cable to my game/joystick port.

The only inputs I can select in cakewalk is TTS Virtual Piano.

What else do I need to install in order to get it work? I don't see anything else, not in sound/multimedia, or anything.

I'm also using Windows Millenium Edition.

Thanks in advance,

-Z
