Guide to buying PCs cheap

There are many sites that post bargain deals and coupon codes so you can literally cut hundreds off the price of whatever you need. Many of them you earn cashback also (usually 3-5%)

Here's some sites i've found, feel free to add any that i've missed. Remember if you check ebay you can sometimes buy money off vouchers (20-30%) for a few dollars. Dell will usually try to add an upgraded warrenty ontop of your deal so just remove it to get the advertised price! Uk sites will be at the bottom of this page!

Happy shopping!

Or you can save hundreds and build your own.
2 cents as usual

Where is the most inexpensive place to buy a 1GB stick of RAM for my Athlon XP 1900+ 1.60GHz processor?

I need more RAM so ProTools will run smoother! 512mb just doesn't cut it.

Stake out Newegg.com, watch for deals.

Peace
Mconcave, a 1 gig is cheap right now they go up and down with the stock market, they are about $89 dollars right now just bought two stick which gives me 3 gigs and Protools runs like a charm.

For me I built my own computer but when it comes to optimizing and configuration, man it didn't work out so what I did was go to Sweetwater and bought the creation station, it's optimized and configured for music only. I have learned this, yes u want to save money, but.......... and I say but I have learned this, if you need power you gonna have to spend money on that computer because it's the brain. Now if you get coupons it's all good. I rock Protools 7.3, Le at that. Now the interface is a beautiful piece the chips in it is hot to def. Now in my pre-production atmosphere I would love to have HD system just one interface and one card up in it. Now the interface is 1,200 depending what you want, but that card is $10,000 freakin Gees! Now I have found a way to have that HD quality and not get HD. All HD did was make this piece so it will not tax your computer at ALL, when you bring up plug ins. You can have plug ins from here to Arizona, it will not tax it. How can I acheive this? Get a Bad azz computer with Duo Core or Quad processors and you will be kicking major booty, and pay least than $10,000. Single processors is going to be a thing of the past for making music and just be for home business and projects not for music. Picture this if I have Quad computer with four processors running at 3.2ghz man do you know how much power that is? I can put my plugins on one, Protools on another , Reason on another which that don't take no real power anyway and have the other one I don't even know lol Man your computer will be your HD system. You blow it out with ram and your stuff will be flying and you can bring up mad plugins. I mean how many tracks do most of us use to make a track? 8, 12, 16, 22? man you will be able to bring up or 400 plugins and yoru computer will be running smooth. So imagine if I had 32 tracks and can bring up plugins on all the tracks. That's hot. I am upgrading to the Creation Station Duo Core, maybe Dell Quad XPS, in about a month.

I buy all my parts through Newegg. You can always find parts cheaper but Newegg does good business. They're reliable.

Fatwallet is dope. I'm on there all the time looking for deals.

This Whole Thread Is Lies

When it comes to computers, however much money you put into buying a computer, thats how much you will get out of it. There are no deals, steals, or bargains. If you get a computer for 400 dollars, you bought a bad computer. If you get a computer for 800 dollars, bought an average computer. if you get one for 900 or over you have a nice computer.

How do i know this? What gives me the right to say there are no bargains?

A) I work at a computer store B) i repair and build hundereds of computers over the span of a year

Also Dell computers suck, pass on dells and buy an HP, APPLE OR A GATEWAY

I was agreeing with you all the way until the last comment...

i've delt with hp, and gateways... and have had plenty of problems with them... also i have two dells and they're still up and running. Apples are obviously great.

But it goes back to what you said... if you buy the low end model your going to get low end performance.... :monkey:

They should make a version of Fruity Loops which is compatible with Linux so we could produce beats on a Beowulf cluster.

This is what I have. I upgraded the soundcard, and ooohhhhhh, this computer is smooth. Damn, i paid like 1300 for mine!!!

One thing i wish is that i got a bigger hard drive. Some of my vsti's take up an insane amount of space. I wouldn't recommend anything under 500 gigs for a hard drive.

did u get urs a while ago? and if i have a fasttrack pro m-audio would i still need to get the sound card cuz isnt the fasttrack already a sound card.
