Distortion solution

So, whenever I'm running a lot of plugins and all the sounds are playing at once, I usually get a lot of distortion....even though I know it's not because of my sounds clipping. I know everything about buffer length and what not and the cpu usage....and I've done all that, but I'm just wondering......would increasing RAM help it out? Buying a new sound card? I currently have the ASIO4ALL sound driver.....but is there a nicer sound card I can buy? If so, recommendations?

I have an M-Audio Fast Track for audio interface.....I'm running on 4gb of ram

then you should be fine maybe you should upgrade to 6 gigs of RAM
what are you using i3,i5 ????

i3.....i was considering going up to 8gb of ram. Would that help? Does my computer sound card have an affect on my audio interface?

yeah you may need more power and 8gigs of RAM will be great
since you're running alot of plug-ins
the plug-in you're using are probably cpu hogs
you may look into plugs that are less CPU hogs

I have some CPU hog plugs so in Feb. I'm building a i7,16 gig RAM PC based

First, uninstall ASIO4ALL because you don't need it. Your audio interface has its own ASIO drivers. Select the fast track ASIO drivers instead of ASIO4ALL.

If you are running a bunch of audio processors, then you'll need a better computer processor. Ram might help, but chances are that it won't make a difference unless you're already maxing out your ram.

cosine what sleepy has just writ, no need to use a catch-all driver (AISO4ALL) when the audio interface has a better driver already written for it by the mob that makes it.....
