the big mpc dilemma

hello to all
heres my prob . i produce hip hop but dont sample at all , been using my pc and cakewalk to produce and record my tracks but ive always been tempted by the mpc to make beats but was to broke to buy one . Now i got the money to buy one all these questions are going through my head ... and im hesitating couse i dont want it to end up as jus an expensive toy sitting on the shelf... like i said i dont do sampling but i do like the things you can do with the mpc it jus feels more easiear to bang down beats on and more space freindly ... would i find use for the mpc even though i dont sample much?? thank u

yeah i use loops that i slice up and differant sample cds im thinkin bout sampling cool sounds from vsts and stuff like that if its possible im not sure.

If you get a modern mpc you can just load your wav. sounds from your VST and load em up. With an older model you could re-sample. I like the idea of using synthesised sounds as percussion if that what you're saying.

It's a really cool sequencer and I think you'd find good use of it. I think there are other things you could benefit from but in terms of giving you another outlet, it's a good option; it doesn't have to be your new definitive output, if you think about Nine Inch Nails, RJD2, Daft Punk, you don't have to be MPC-centric to get down with one for some parts. I have an ASR for just that purpose.

Yes the best thing about the Mpc is honestly the sequencer. The sampler isnt that important and all of the new mpcs allow u to import cd quality wav sounds in anyway. Now personally I don't think hardware is the way to go for someone who doesn't sample because there are too many great plug ins out there for drum machines and they give u a billion sounds. If you are sampling I find that using a hardware sampler to be a bit more streamlined
