Problems with Drums

Hi,

I'm new to producing.

Sampling is easy for me i can chop up samples and play with them till i get a melody.

But my problem are the drums everytime i add drums to my sample it sounds shitty and not "right".

How do you find the right drums and make a beat for your sample that sounds good?

What do you mean by "not right"
Is it the pattern or the drums themselves?

If it's the pattern sounding dull or kind of plain maybe add some percussion but first determine what type of style you want to produce.

If it's the overall sound it might be just as easy as layering drums or maybe getting more kits/samples/vsti's.

A little note: If the sample sounds bad, then it might turn out to be bad...

It's like polishing a turd..

Get the right sound (or near) of the specific drum whether its a Kick, Snare, Hi-hat etc... Then start mixing it.. There a few videos on youtube to get you started on mixing... But don't take any rules to mixing... When achieving that right sound, its you to you to do it, trust your ears not your eyes...
