MPC 2000XL and chopping the sample with...shift + fader - possible?

yo, is it possible to use mpc 2000xl without data wheel?I can buy it for really cheap, but the data wheel is somehow broken and idk if its worth it or not?;d
so can i chop the samples with shift + fader or something?
second question;
where can i get data wheel for mpc 2000xl? at mpcstuff they are out of stock

if i were you i would first find out if its an internal problem or if its just hardware problem cuz say you do buy the data wheel you slap it on and it doesn't work still. honestly if you can't find a source then i would call akai directly and see if they can work something out cuz i have no idea where you would find one except mpcstuff or broken mpcs they sell on ebay and craigslist or even local pawn shops

Yes, it's possible, but fine-adjusting your chops will be very hard.. You'll need the data wheel for all kinds of stuff and will not get by without it, so as GanjaKidd said, better find out if it is fixable and if you are able to find replacement parts before buying.
