I feel like this forum needs some discussions in recent developments of Hiphop. Tried the search function and nothing came up.
So i am looking for something fresh and edgy to get into and i have a feeling Drift Phonk could be just that.
But first : What am i talking about ? To be fair Phonk and thus mb Drift Phonk is nothing new. I don't know if in the beginning it was even a genre of Hiphop or just a certain style of Beat that came up in Memphis in the 90s. Pls correct me if i am wrong.
One of the earliest good ones was : and shit was simple enough.
So this developed into a whole genre, the best ones to do it - as far as i have seen - still Mafia related (DJ Paul):
So the Question is this : Apart from trap style drums and heavy use of pitched cowbells, fast vocals (sometimes pitched) to me it's not that clear as to what constitutes Drift Phonk ?
What sets it apart from Supertrap? What sets it apart from Phonk?
Is Ghostemane still Phonk?
