i'm thinking of getting an EMU SI2000, i'm thinking of longevity here, i trying out a korg es1 but am afraid of its limitations...my priorities are sampling and making banging beats with tripped out effects...what do you folks think about the emu? korg?
or is there an other kind of route that i can take

Ever thought of going for the Yamaha A4000 (or the cheaper A3000).

Excellent samplers, check their review on Future music's website, go here;

(Sorry for the long link, but it does work)

If you want effects you'll have to purchas ethe TURBO BOARD. Factor that into the price. I dont know bout the A3000, but i believe its still more expensive.

ESI2000 is an excellent sampler by the way.

Use your third eye (not leg).

I would stay away from the Yamaha A series samplers. I heard they have very long load times of samples. If you want to go the E-MU route, I would go get an Ultra series. These are cheap on Ebay now.
