Maybe i shall start with saying that i have NOT bought my version of cubase, its cracked by radium, and i am aware of that this might be the problem.
anyway.... i read some posts here trying to find out how to sync different programs with cubase, and i dont get it at all.
I have reaktor2.0, cubaseVST24 & rebirth 2.0
none of them is original, its cracked copies ( i will buy them when im learned them and i think its worth it)
My question is... How do i for example sync together Rebirth with cubase?
i have tryed to take "external sync" on rebirth, and pushed the "sync" button in cubase... what do i do next?
You could say im newbie at this stuff, cause i have only worked with fastracker2, modplugtracker before and soundforge.
now i want to try something new and more advanced, i want to learn cubase well enough, so when i get my first synth i know exactly what to do.
any replys are welcome, post ideas, your own experiences etc.
BTW... i have a Soundblaster 1024 live card.

The sync button in cubase doesn't have anything to do with the MIDI clock... It is the digital audio sync (adat etc..) thing... where you have slaves and a master.
In MIDI it's different... You need to create a track in Cubase which points to Rebirth (both need to be on the same MIDI PORT). You should install a program called HUBI'S MIDI LOOPBACK, which creates some virtual connections between your programs (ie new midi ports), because right now you probably only have SB MIDI OUT and SB SYNTH as MIDI ports, and you need more (LB1, LB2, LB3 and LB4) to be able to send MIDI data form a cubase track to your soft synth etc..). Also select "Send Start and Stop, MIDI Clock" in the settings of your sequencer.
Hope this helps.
Ah, and by the way, please don't mention pirate stuff in the forums, thanks
Good luck

Hubi's midi loopback is a free program, go to the program's homepage here: http://members.nextra.at/hubwin/midi.html

I have an old Kawai Wk50 keyboard here, and it has midi in and out.
and i dont really understand how i could use this with cubase and cakewalk etc.
ive bought myself a midi cable and connected it to the gameport on the soundcard, how do i write in my notes into cubase with the keyboard?
and can i use it with VST instruments like "Dynamo" ?
i mean, play with other instruments than the crappy ones at the keyboard? (12 years old)
i would be awesome if that could work, because then my music production would take a HUGE step forward.

Yes.. the keyboard you are describing can be used as a CONTROLLER. It means that you won't use any of the keyboard's sound, but only the keys themselves to control the sounds of your computer (software synthesizers etc..)
. Plug the MIDI OUT of the kb to the MIDI IN of your computer.
. Don't try to plug the sound of the keyboard on your PC>. you won't use the keyboards sounds at all to control your software.
. In Cubase, for each track, you have cells on the left, with name, bank, program, channel, OUT, etc..
. Click on the OUT cell of a track, select your MIDI OUT port (could be a VST synthesizer, Gigasampler, etc..) It is the device you will send the notes data to.
. Click on the "Chn" cell (Midi channel) and select "1"
. Go to your MIDI System Setup (Options > Midi Setup > System) and make sure MIDI THRU is enabled.
. Go to your MIDI Filtering Setup (Options > Midi Setup > Filtering) and make sure you don't "check" anything except the "Sysex" in the record and thru collumn. Uncheck everything else.
Load a VST instrument, and use the steps above to output a track to it. Hit your keyboard keys, you should be able to control any track you are SELECTING. If you select another track later, which would ocntrol for example your soundcard's General Midi bank, you will all a sudden control it.
You can then record realtime what you are playing, etc..
Hope this helps you, see you around!

I can help you djmerlin, I have the setup you desire almost exactly.... You need Rewire to operate Rebirth through cubase, This is with Rebirth 2.01 Then all you do is open Cubase, then in the Audio menu, click on Rewire, activate some channels, Now you can open Rebirth, & the whole thing will sync together just like that,
