Did you already hear the sound of a record playing in reverse? This is difficult to achieve, because you must practice a lot to know how much pressure you have to put on the record to play it in reverse at the same BPM. Lately some companies have designed devices to add a reverse ability on the SL1200 , or have designed turntables with that ability. Nothing better as the real thing though.
But there's another way to do it, and it's perfect for showing off at your friends.
Put a cup on the middle of the platter (in the MIDDLE), then put your record on top of the cup, perfectly aligned in the middle (this is really important if you want the record to play at normal speed, otherwise if it's misaligned the record will speed up on one side of the rotation and slow down on the other).
Now remove the headshell from your tonearm and put it backwards on the arm (needle points to the ceiling). Set the weight at the back of your arm, so the arm lifts up. Now put the needle on the record from below and start playing. The music will be reversed and watch the crowd look how the hell you managed to do that!
This trick is not very new, but is still good to impress the crowd.
Well, if you're nice, I'll post more of such tricks on a regular base.
