How can I get my completed songs out of the MC-307 and into my PC? I have read up on the poorly written manual, and I also have Midi Cables connected properly from the box to the PC. I'm using Logic Platinum Edition and FL Studio 4. And how can I convert the midi into audio after I import it into the PC? Sorry for the the Q's....I'm extremely new to this midi stuff...

Any helps is appreciated....

MIDI and audio are two different things.

Are you familiar with the idea of a player piano? You know, the mechanical piano that is played by big rolls of paper with holes punched in the paper?

Well, MIDI is like those rolls of paper. By itself, it doesn't make any sound at all; it's just performance information. But when that information is used to control a piano, it causes the piano to make a sound. (or, in the modern world, a synth or drum machine or whatever.)

You need to record the audio from your groovebox into Cubasis. Plug the 307's outputs into the Line inputs of the US122, then record the audio as a track. Now you'l have the actual recording of the instrument, not just performance information (which is what MIDI is).

Hoax....

So when I do this, would I need to trigger the record button in Cubasis and then play the song that I have from the groovebox? There is no "other" way to send it? This is my basic understanding. I appreciate the help....its just a whole new thing to me since I've started on hardware....

That's basically the idea, yes.

You can synchronize the two (set up Logic to send MIDI beat clock). Set your tempo within Logic to be the same as on your groovebox.

Then set your Groovebox to external sync (so that it'll follow Logic's tempo).

Now, when you press Play on Logic, the groovebox will play along. This is useful for having your information be riht on the grid (makes editing much easier). Also, you can mute everything on the Groovebox but the drums, dump the sound of the drums in, rewind Logic, go to the next track, mute everything but the bass sound, dump the bass in, and so on. This gives you the flexibility to add different effects on each track, also to have the pieces available to remix later.
