Wuzup?! For anyone that's interested this is a follow up to my previous posting.

After some time and hands-on trials I came to the conclusion that each is good, pending on the users application and budget. Let's start w/ the ASR-X Pro, not a bad unit good sound quality on samples plus comes with built-in sounds and filters, also can be played as a synth and can use expansion sound cards/ROMs. However there were times when the button pushing routine got me a tad pissed, and it only has 16 midi tracks...more on this and the others later.

Yes the ASR is not bad, 16 tracks can be enough for most songs.. I like the AKAI MPC 2000 better though. Or the 3000

I haven't had many problems with the SU700. I think it has a tighter internal sequencer than the ASR.

"a potential hip hop classic in the making. The beat revolves around a catchy vocal cample and uses punchy drum sounds to great effect. The rapping is excellent throughout, and the hook is highly memorable. The second track is a jazzier affair and comes with some excellent scratching and very tight production once again" - Future Music

Almost anything with a sequencer these days has a tighter internal sequencer than the ASR-X. Man I remember that piece... I had the black ASR once...

Yeah my boy Moe had one and I always remember the drum beats sounding like he didn't quantise yet he DID! Still, the MPC is known for it's tight thickness and probably out does the Su700 as well. ASR is kind of a different animal since it has internal sounds. Not a bad piece of gear, except for that sequencer.

the ASR-X sucks major when it comes to the sequencer, i have owned one, and i can honestly say the RS7000 and MPC have better timing. the ASR-X's clock is very instable and is really bad for making good sequences, the effecs are nice, but very much parameters to change (that can also be a pré !) the samples are clean and good. i actually never recomment anyone to buy these things, aspecially because ensonique is no longer giving any support and because of the bad timing of the processor !!!

The MPC i know very little about ! so that's for u guys to give opinions !!!

The RS7000 has a good sequencer with very good timing !!!
easy OS updating is possible just by using flashmedia cards so you don't have to open your machine to update the software inside ( don't know if the pro version of the ASR-X has this but the non-pro version has chip updated so you must open the machine and insert a new chip in the machine ! )

The sounds are clean and very good, the effects are very usefull and you'll only be able to change some of the parameters but enough to change the effects to get your sound you like !
only thing i do not like is the fact you have a patternchain mode between the pattern mode and the song mode, but there must be a reason for that i also would like to see much more scene memories on the machinem because i use them alot !!!
