Kool! thats a nice bit of cash for a synth
Please, before parting with your cash,
ask a few questions regarding the functionality of
the synth,
Does it have an onboard sequencer? If so then
be carefull, like the TRITON/TRINITY series
on board sequencers can boost up the price, and
are NOT needed if you are running your sequencing
from a PC. Beware of Onboard sequencers
How many real time controllers does it have? (Knobs, sliders)
How much polyphony does it have? the more the better,
how many audio outputs does it have? the more the better
I would take mano's advice and go for something similar
to the VIRUS , or the new NORD , as these synths have
been build escpecially for synthesis and not sequencing
which some synths seem to incorporate, paying for something
which you dont need if you plan to use your computer in
your set up.
I have a KORG PROPHECY, though its only monophonic, it
has 2 oscillators, and 1 sub oscilator, 4 LFO's, 4 Envelopes, Pulse width modulation, and so much more
though the KORG Z1 is like a polyphonic prophecy, it
does all this though u can play more than one note at
the same time,
ask at your local store about its features,
Hey Mano!!? Can we have a list of the DO's and DONT'S about
buying synthesisers? Im at work now so I would write a comprehensive list describing common problems with buying
MIDI hardware,
hope that helps a bit
peace
