thanks Daky (only my 3rd try at a riddim I'm ususally doing Hip Hop & R&B)..
I can't speak for the hardcore longtime riddim makers, but I use :
ASR Pro X with MIDI keyboard controller internal sounds and samples I tweak (especially drums, claps)

into
PC with Cool Edit Pro .

Love to hear some of yours!

Cubase SX is fine to use. I personally use Sonar. The MPC is usually the tool of choice for drum tracks by most producers, however I tend to use a little of every thing. I even use an old Kawai K4 keyboard for some lower bit sounds.

Fruity Loops is OK if you are primarily using loops. However, what separates dancehall from hip hop is the being able to create hot riddims without the need for loops. In my case, I may find a nice obscure instrument (usually guitar) loop and build around it with programmed drums and keys. Most cases I don't use loops for dancehall and build everything from scratch. With Fruity or Acid, loops would more than likely be the heart of your production and I personally don't like to limit myself that way. This was the reason I chosen Sonar.

i use my MPC2000 and my Roland xp30. Plus lots of vinyl for smaples of course. Recording in cubase sx, or pro tools in the studio although I'd really wanna record on 2" analog tape..

Darky -> Martinque's dancehall compilation, dancehall clash was all made with Reason, and a tiny mastering, thats why its doesnt sound heavy enough (for me ... :-D ) . West Indian's Producer (LLD) use akai 300xl and asr 10.

i listened to your riddim, Madininian it's quite good .
im giving reason a try cause a don't feel FL Studio to sound "clean enougth".
i used cubase, in the beginning, and i have to say, it's a good soft, but i don't really feel it.. nevertheless i made something with it, but nothing good enougth to let people hear .

huummmm, why not . i put the demo sound, on my future web page
take it here

don't blame it too much, this was my first attemp, in music.
what do you think about it ?
