I recently had an opportunity to travel to Jamaica. Although my visit was far too short, I was pleased to be exposed to the rich variety of music on that island.
I'm glad there is a new forum for dancehall and reggae on FutureProducers. I was wondering if there is a faq or glossary that someone can point me to. I would like to learn about the terminology that is often used, the differences between the various sub-genres, etc. For instance, what exactly is a riddim? How is that different from rhythm? And what's the difference between dancehall and reggae?
