i'm using an audiomedia III card on a g4 466 with cubase 5 and i have a problem with my sound output keep disappearing.
when i first start cubase everything is fine, but as soon as i start editing, like change tempo, edit a drum track, etc… my sound output disappears, it's all physically still there and visible in the document but no sound comes out and nothing goes through any of the channel mixers, but as soon as i restart cubase it's fine again.

i've tried loads of different version of drivers but to no avail

does anyone know why it's doing this?
is it cubase, the sound card or driver software?

cheers

i've been having the same problem with cubase 5, but strangely enough on a PC, not mac... audio output would drop sporadically from one audio track, and would reappear if i closed & started the program up again (or strangely enough, if i changed the assigned number of the track that was dropping audio!)...

sorry, i dont really have a solution, but ive switched over to logic audio 4.6, it really is rock solid stable (unlike cubase)... kinda stinks cos i really do prefer cubase, but untill steinberg releases something thatll be stable on my system, i really cant use it...

one thing though... did you buy cubase? or is this warez youre using?

Awwwww. .. ,.DUDE! How is the driver config supposed to work? I got things happening with soft synths giving output out thru the G4 built in audio, but experienced same probs when trying to record a track. Same probs, same fix if restartation of cubase...
so what's the deal? i got a digi001, and i think the driver fix would be the same...gee i hope you reply...i really like using Cubase...
PS did you gain the ability to use your digidesign card ins and outs? wow, that would be like a dream come true!
Spontaneous smiles of thankxs in advance...

no worries mate, here's the mail they sent me and i spoke to someone at digidesign and he said the same

"…DSI 5.1 is the first version to support Mac OS 9.1 and the 2001 G4's. You may download this at:
http://www.digidesign.com/download/daedsi.html

-In addition to DSI 5.1, you will also need to download and install, Digidesign Direct I/O 5.1 extension, available at:
http://www.digidesign.com/download/directio.html

-Lastly, you will need to use the Digidesign Direct I/O ASIO Driver. A link to the driver can be found at:
http://www.digidesign.com/download/ptutil.html

-Due to conflicts with Mac OS 9.x, the Digidesign Sound Drivers extension (which provides both input and output via Sound Manager) is not compatible. If installed, remove this from the Extensions folder.

-With Mac OS 9.x, you can still route audio Out of the AMIII via Sound Manager with Mac OS 9.x. Remove the Digi Sound Drivers extension and install the Digidesign Control Panel, available at:
http://www.digidesign.com/download/sndrvr.html

-Whenever you change versions of DSI, be sure to trash the DigiSetup file from the System Folder>Preferences folder, empty the Trash and restart the computer…"

hope this helps u!

actual tangible help, man this virtual reality is proving unreal! hehe, so to speak.
Will wade thru the downloads and attempt to keep some portion of sanity intact, for long enough to post if it worked for me.
Thanks again.
