Kontakt = full sampler. Provide your own samples or use sample libraries of just about any flavor.
Omnisphere = sample and oscillator based synth. Construct your own sounds by manipulating the sounds that come with it.
Both are tops in their respective functions.
There is a use for both of these in your arsenal, but if you can only get one of them, choose what works best for what you do. If you are a sample guy, Kontakt. If you are a synth guy, Omnisphere.
Which workflow suits you best? If you don't know, flip a coin. Either way, you win.

i have to agree with these statements. it is like comparing apples and oranges (synth and sampler). yes, i own both....
so for software rack
1. Kontakt 3
2. Ominosphere
3. Trillian
what sounds would you use with kontakt 3 (kontakt 3.5 beta is out by the way)? trillian has all your bass sounds and omninosphere has synths, basses, and strings.
if you are going to go kontakt 3 you shoud go konkakt 3 and purchase the different libraries available for it (string, piano, synth, etc - i.e. scarbee bass instead of trillian).
yes, it sounds very impressive to own kontakt 3, omnisphere, trillian, etc but if you listen to what is hot out today reason 4 can handle it all.
reason is the future of the music making business. with the refills available today all one needs is reason (and the knowledge to utilitize it) and a ton of refills.
personally, i think kontakt 3 and omnisphere together is over kill...
if i had to pick i would go with omnisphere...
another thing to consider is your sound...
what elements do you use currently in your music (i.e. drums, bass, piano, organ, synth)?
just buying different plugins may not be the answer you are looking for.
you should ask yourself "what sound am i trying to achieve"? start from there and then make you choices. it sounds like you have sound money burning your pockets and want to spend.
just take your time and choose wisely but understand what direction you are taking your music in because that will help the most when choosing what to buy.
just my opinion...
