while it didnt have as many changeups as merz' track, i found it more pleasing to the ear. quite a nice selection of strings samples that all melded together nicely without an overrunning beat that was still funky.
Merz's beat had nice drums but the sample didn't fit too well. It may have been because sample was not in key with the other instruments or that the sample was just not complete.. by complete I mean it was not a full call and response phrase, it was just the call part (or is it was the response, its been a while since I heard the original) over and over and left it feeling incomplete.
to further illustrate the call/response for those that are unaware, listen to Jpros beat. he plays the "call" sample 8 times in a row followed by the "response" sample at the beginning of his beat. notice how it makes the beat flow back into the verse or into the chorus nicely....
