Marud_II

http://www.soundclick.com/bands/2/marud22music.htm

my beats called "How Many4" ..........

Y-itEarp

the name of the track is: Life in the Pack

i tried to bring a little more traditional battle flavor to the competition while keeping it production oriented instead of juggling n stuff.

no samples were used other than the things that are skratched.

Marud Notes:
I kept thinking a beat was going to kick in before I realized that it was what it was. Quantization would help, I could feel the claps dragging and catching up at times. Claps seemed to be the focal point of this track as everything else was mixed lower. This beat did not catch me.

Y-itEarp notes:
Bangin drums. Otherwise this one was a little too esoteric for me. Scratches were overused and not on beat much of the time.

thanks for the comments nfx, yeah its a heavily skratch oriented piece thats for sure, i think the vastly better skratching segments of the song are the parts from 1:50 till the end, the beginning uses that wolf sample which is on a very old record, which makes the skratches sound faded, not to mention it skips a lot so i couldnt do the more complicated cuts on it.

i had a lot of fun with the drums, i think those turned out pretty well. the bass and melody is a bit trip-hop style, but still very groovable i think.

anyways, marud i agree with nfx, the claps seem a bit loud in the mix, and the weird rhythm changeup that happens around 21-26 seconds in threw me off a lot. sometimes it seems like the tempo jumps around a lot, and only on certain parts of the song, like the bass will speed up a bit for a few bars while the rest stays the same... its very confusing. got a nice west coast groove to it at points, but not consistent enough in my mind. anyways, good luck to yaz and the other contestants

on another note, can you vote in a battle matchup youre in or not?

I gonna' have to vote for Y-it. The scratching was sloppy in some parts. Could have left some of them out to give more to the beat. Marud's beat sounded nice, but in some areas it didn't seem to fit right. It's definetly a get crunk beat and a MC will make it shine.

my vote goes to Y itEarp

I liked both tracks fine, but i think that maruds needed quantizing on the drums and claps.

Marud: need better drums and quantizing

Y-it: a bit too ambient and too much turntabalism. Not a lead single track but a pretty good follow up.

vote Y-it

Murad "SALAM Y MURAD" (MEANING HOW ARE YOU MURD IN ARABIC. i THINK YOUR START WAS TIGHT, Neptunes al over it, i think your drum part need some fixing, keep it up)

Y- god drum line my friend, the scratching was ok, I also think that it was unclear on where you where going with the beat, but nice mixing

my vote goes to Y- U had the better drum line.
