you could make a copy of the sample soloing the L or R channel with the drums in them....then running that thru a mono and then apply your own seperation with precise EQ...

what is this other info in the other ear...is it tail and reverb of the drums or is it just other instruments or sounds that arent drums?

you might have room noise in the other ear too...so you might have to pay attention to that as well

I use music as a medium to talk to people.

Why not just sample the instrument side. There's usually the drums and bass on the right and the other instruments on the left. Vocal is usually up the middle.

The beatles shyt be panned all over the place lol. But normally, rhythm section on the right, other instruments on the left

I actually prefer the samples to be this way. Simply because it's less filtering I have to do to get the drums out of the sample.

It's as simple as eliminating the channel where the drums are panned, and working with what's left on the other channel.

Not telling you my way's the only way, but I tend to leave stereo samples the way they were mixed. Most of the time when I sample, I just fill in around the stereo dynamics. Usually add my own snares, hats, basslines, a few extra instruments, so in the end it's full.

When I mess with stereo dynamics, it tends to work against me further down the line when I start trying to add stuff. Same happens when I apply any heavy effects to a sample early.

Two things that annoy me are people who are positive out of ignorance, and people who are negative out of bitterness. People who are neither usually get along with me and agree with most of what I say. People who are one of the 2 think I'm the other.

if thats the case ill usually either copy the left and right channels over eachother or just convert it from stereo to mono.

WORD reas, its easier to get the unwanted stuff out or focus in on a single sound like an organ playing too loud or something. i use reason so i jus wire it how i want it and good to go. ive done it using the splitter/joiner but it easier jus havin the left loaded in one player and the right in another and u can add the extra stuff from the channel u didnt really want, if u want to. if its drums only, then not but sometimes the horns alone will be on that or somethin like that and u can play it wit some flex in where u put it, feel me?

Okay, this might not work. I'm just working off of the top of my dome here. Move the copy of your sample to soundforge or any other editing software like that. Create a stereo file with the only the left channel playing on both left and right channels. Then do the same with the original right channel. When you're done, you should have 2 stereo files with the instruments playing on all channels. Then mix accordingly! Probably a lil confusing. Could you send me the sample so I could check it out?
