I just got back in the producing game.. its been about 3.. 4 months.. can anyone tell me the secret in making my drums bounce like 9th wonders.. i know it has something to do with swing and sliding the notes.. but as far as making sound just like his... im still lost... Im using reason 4 by the way.. and whats the best timestretching software to use on a mac... thanks for you all your help FP...

How about you DONT make your drums sound like 9th wonders and just come up with your own style in beats.

ummmmm really i copyed 9th back in '06 use ur ears they dont quantize anything 9th,dilla(rip),black,madlib.....ect.ect black milk have a vid were he shows how he gets his groove like levlove said

its not just about hats. its everything. it all depends on the drums you use, the way you chop the samples, everything. you've got to have it already in your head how you want it to sound. there's no set formula. generally you can swing the kick and snare and then push the hats forward a few milliseconds, but again, this is all done to taste. that's the diff in rhythms like 9th's Khrysis and Primo. they all have different ears. and its not just drums. sometimes you've got to shift up the samples as well, and that again, is all in how you chop them too.
