I prefer to chop... it's more challenging... a little nerve-racking at times... but the feeling after a successful chop is better than the "i just looped it"...

I have nothing against looping though.. if it sounds dope looped... i'm all for that too

depends on the sample. Sometimes you even gotta do both. There's a certain genius to taking a sample and mutilating it to make something unexpected, but don't underestimate the genius it takes to find that perfect loop and know it when you hear it.

Neither is something "anyone can pull off". Think of all the loop tracks you hear that just sound like "someone took a loop and did nothing with it", then think of all the chopped samples you've heard that just sound "choppy and all over the place".

Two things that annoy me are people who are positive out of ignorance, and people who are negative out of bitterness. People who are neither usually get along with me and agree with most of what I say. People who are one of the 2 think I'm the other.

Like when I heard the sample for Jay-Z's Public Service Anouncment I was like oh **** Just Blaze did't do **** loop, speed up alittle bit and add drums that bang more. But it dosn't matter if u like the sample as is use it. Just do u don't worry about what other people is gonna think.

You just gotta do whatever it takes to make it sound hot. The technique most sample producers don't fck wit is automation. For instance, adding automation to the release/pan/filter to get the right sounds out of the sampe. Kinda like chopping but you just filter out the parts you don't need. I'm pretty certain Dilla and RZA do alot of that. I'm only recently getting into it.

yeah, effects are underrated when it comes to sampling.

i like both, i'd say i do more chopping than looping, but i don't think my beats sound choppy.
