I just got a roland mv-8800 and I use Reason 4, I also have my Axiom 61.What would yall suggest me getting next(Harware,Sortware) So anyone who has a MV based studio, Plz help.

I hear so much bad stuff about protools and their auido interfaces. So I was thinking to go with Cubase ?

Cubase or Sonar and I dont know what auido interface to go with ?

Really, between the mv, reason, and your keyboard, you have no "limits" outside of some way to record. I like PT but for different reasons than most. For $500, i have a delta 1010lt and the program, 8 analog, 2 digital ins, not the best converters but they work and can't beat the price. But yeah, you need some sort of DAW to complete that.

After that, i'd say sound modules if reason isn't doing it for you, or some vintage stuff, an older sampler or synth to give you some more "character" on the cheap.

look for an interface that comes with cubase or sonar, this way you don't buy the software and then get an interface that comes with it anyway.

Your interface will become your new soundcard. Infact, you can even just pull the old out if you need a space since you most likely won't touch it again.

I always recommend turntables as well. I never really could do mp3 sampling, that's part of it, but the record store can become your favorite spot and really help you expand your style. I don't want to start an mp3 vs. vinyl but it's never a bad idea to have more than what you can find on the net, put simply.

I'd just hook up an LCD monitor to the mv, and use my money for quality monitors, and thats all you need...maybe a nice set of turntables and mixer
