Depends on what program or DAW or sequencer, or whatever the **** you wanna call it. I use FL Studio, and IF I use the step sequencer I usually throw about 15% swing OR SO. It depends on the beat though. I also have MIDI Scores of the swing from an MPC which starts at 50% and increases, so I usually use about 55% or so on that when I do drums in the piano roll.

people who just throw numbers out there make me laugh. each sample is different. if you sample some swing music (something from the actual "swing music" genre), then a fake 55% mpc swing isn't going to cut it, something like FL's built in swing at 75% might be more appropriate for that type of sample. but it all depends on the sample. just sayin 55% mpc swing, that isn't going to cut it for every single sample. a good practice to try, sequence ur sample first and get it locked on beat, so when the metronome plays you can hear that the sample is on time. since you don't have a midi controller, point and click a basic kick/snare/hat pattern on the grid, this should also play in time with the metronome since u clicked the notes in. play the sequenced sample and basic drum pattern together (i suggest turnin off the metronome at this point) and adjust the swing til the drums sit right to you. you may want something that swings a lil before hand to get an upbeat/rushed feel or a lil after the beat to get a laidback/relaxed feel. it's up to you, but each sample is different and no one swing setting is gonna work for everything.
