I know close to nothing about drums

should I be looking for akit I like the sound of instantly or do the little metal things and whatever I fill the drums with (acoustically treat) make the difference

I dont want a flat rock drum kit

I want my drums to be magical and funky sounding...deep and hard....how is this possible?

I know a bit about processing sound but im sure theres something about the actual drum kit and mic techniques that I should know??

does anyone else go for that proto-funk sound?
