How do I take a live bass drum recording and load it in to a program that will change the sound to anything I want?

Like a more crisp, tighter, clicky sounding bass drum? ..cause I've EQd this track to death and it still sounds like bodussi.

The progam would have to map the signal/beats, then I could screw around with it, like change the beats to a cymbal or tamborine if I wanted... Does such a program exist???

You should not have to eq anything to death.(Will not help)
Find something else..

By eqd to death, I meant that I'd tried all avenues with the EQ. Not that I'd eqd on top of eqing on top of more eqing. I've tried most, if not all mixing techniques, the engineer just didn't know how to record a bassdrum. Now we're paying for it. If there's not a program out there like what I'm looking for, there should be. And if there is, I don't know what to call it or I'd be searching right now.

look at using some dynamic processors along with eqing, not just eqing by itself. however the best solution is to get a better recording of the drum.

I blindly messed around with the dynamic before, I'll try again.

Problem is, you'll hear the gate working, but the mic has heavy bleeding from the cymbal work, which leaves me unable to process too much without getting emphasis on that unwanted cybmal sound. Wish we could re-record. The only real option, for now, is to find that program. And I'll try to tweek the dynamic a bit, see what happens. Thanks junke

you could just add a midi track with the kick sample you like. you would have to program the kick to go right along with the drummer which shouldn't take too long. you can turn down the original and blend it with the midi, EQ the cymbals out but still have the presents of the drum it self.

you mean morph a drum into a cymbal?........or just fatten up the drum sounds.......if you wanna do the first, collect 3500 and go get you a kyma, you can make a drum turn into fart if you please........otherwise triggering samples, drum replacement, and a book on mic polarity would be good.........or try audio to midi programs and try your like

people tell me i get loopy when i chop it up with them
