As a producer I'm pretty good with creating a song from scratch and by using samples. I feel the one area I'm not conifdent in is both. I wantto be able to lay samples down and at the same time play my own **** on top, but I guess i worry too much about the key of the song and what not. Does anybody have any tips??

Its not hard really, just getting everything in harmony is the key. Try starting off with putting bass to your samples, then adding strings and work your way up.

When I sample I always compose over it, I usually start with a bass, find the root key (just hit every note one by one and you'll find it) then load some instruments and let it go.

check my myspace page out. The beat called "Trap" is a sample with stuff over it. the cool thing about doing that is if you cant clear that joint add a few more instruments to fill in where the sample was..then you got an "original" track.
