Im thinking about learning how to play the bass this summer, but was wondering how many bass players on here play out their bass (on their bass guitar) in their own beats and how well it integrates for them?

I have a bass player play bass on my stuff all the time and its awesome. I have him play the whole thing through so it doesn't sound so "sequenced" you know? But learning to play a instrument always adds a new dimension to your music....

Yh, cn imagine it makes it sound a lot more auhentic. A new dimension is exactly what im trying to get. I kno there are a number of effect pedals, but do you know to what extent you can manipulate the bass' sound?

you could always process it any way you like after recording it

I would recommend using a amp modler more so than recording a preset sound going in, cause you can always edit the sound after if you record it clean.

Well with bass there aren't really chords....just one note at a time usually. I have seen some player do solos with some chordings in them but even then not to many. Its just 1 note at a time. You could get a basic fret map and be done with it. maybe get a bass basics book. That would probably have a map in it.

Oh and also the bass is the lower 4 strings of a guitar so if you know guitar you know basic bass. not that I would call myself a bass player being a guitarist but I have had to fill in on bass before...
