You are limiting yourself which is going to hold you back. Don't just go looking for soul music to sample, sample from all genres. Alot of the music you here now are samples from music from other countries. From my experience and I'm pretty sure alot of people on FP will tell you also is that alot of the times I've found more stuff to sample off of music from another genre rather than the soul records that I've bought. So don't stick to one thing, listen to the music and you may find samples so unique that cats will start asking where did you get that from.

There are no rules to sampling

The best way and only way to really find a great sample is to grab a portable record player, grab your headphones take it down tp the second hand record store grab a seat and grab every record in site that you don't know and just dig dig and keep digging, most of the records you listen too will be trash but you should find a few with some breaks that you really like.

there are no rules to sampling. find ur own ****, cuz if u sample everyone elses samples, then ur all gonna sound the same. u wanna sound different, so go diggin, find **** u like. doesnt matter what genre it is, it could be death metal, as long as it sounds hot.

You want t know about Soul music? The best way is to study soul music go do your research. In this day and age the biggest resource tool the internet can teach you alot about different artist. I'm pretty sure you can even hear snippets of their music.

Taking a portable TT looks cool but it's to time consuming. While you are still going through your 1st crate a silent killer is digging up the good stuff. Based off knowledge in his or her brain. My portable is used for sampling on the go. You hear digger say all the time look at the session players. You can learn alot by just reading.

Good luck digging for that soul...
