The AVCHD format is very hard to edit and also not very good in quality. For professional work I would recomend a camera using CMOS technology, (3 if possible) interchangeable lenses and a native HDV (or hd) codec. Sony, panasonic, canon and JVC have some great options for prosumers or professionals in a budget. Hope this helps.
