what's up, i have a couple of sampling questions

number 1, what's a good filtering program (i guess that's what i'm thinking) a software plugin/vst that can filter samples real good. I know there's not a program that can totally remove vocals but is there any plugins that can reduce vocals good? i know it's impossible on some tracks because of how they were recorded but i need a plugin program that can reduce vocals.

Also i'm having problems when i sample, how in da heck do you guys get clear basslines and things? even when i try and sample from cd or mp3 my basslines sound like i recorded them from a distorted cheap tape. i'm referring to if i filtered out some strings and say piano--trying to get only the bassline it sounds all crappy. So what's some real good quality filtering plugins or fx that can help me get good sound from my samples?

another problem, when i add drums and my own basslines to samples it usually sounds all crappy, i guess i need to filter more or use more fx? i don't know...................

is there a good software sampler that you guys can recommend, a good filter, and fx, maybe all in one? i'm currently using tracktion 3, maybe i haven't explored it enough or...........

thanks for your help

Every DAW will come with an EQ that you can use to "filter".

Use a low pass filter for the bass line, set the cut off real low like 150Hz and experiment from there.

Your not picking the right drums. When you have a heavy bass line you don't want a kick with a lot of low end, its going to effect the bassline. You want to use a kick with more of a punch than a boom.

Shortcircuit 2 (v0.5.1) is a good free sampler. If your looking for a somewhat simple DAW FL is good, there all good just find one that your comfortable with.

Nah man sorry. Just EQ.

I have sampled plenty of tracks with vocals, you just have to use em to your advantage.

If you are using a midi controller; stick with Tracktion 3 (I assume you are using 1) Buy Battery 3 and use it as your main sampler. Search www.kvraudio.com for free plug-in's. The Tracktion filters from Mackie in Tracktion 3 are also real good, great EQ very precise. You can also use a couple of filters within Battery 3, for each chopped up sample, or add effects in one go. Don't reduce vocals, most of the time that doesn't sounds so good in my opinion, try to fix it via the above mentioned eq'ing and yes indeed use them to your advantage, nothing is sweeter than hearing a sweet woman's voice in some nice soulful beats.

It all comes to EQ and filtering just experiment things are better when you learn from trial and error...

Yea, sounds like u just need to get more practice/experiance. What you have is fine, learn how to really use what you have. No additional peice of software is going to magically do what you want, you have to learn how to do it.
