Right now I am listening to autumn leaves, from love ballets. Any other Davis fans?

Miles Davis is a very overrated trumpet player. I am one myself, and am easily as good. Louis Armstrong was the best trumpet player ever, closely followed by Dizzy Gillespie, and nowadays Wynton Marsailles. But he did well enough (good PR, even through his heroin addiction)

Life rocks!

Miles is not overrated. He does not play many notes, but it's in the feel and in the craftmanship of his tunes that his strengths lie. Yes, technically you may very well be up there with Miles - so is my buddy - but in terms of note choice and songwriting, I've yet to hear your stuff.

Louie was obviously quite a force to be reckoned with, no doubt. Dizzy - what can I say? No words can describe my respect for Dizzy, a legend by all rights. Marsalis? Nah, too slick.

Miles encompassed so many styles - fusion, funk, soul, jazz, electro, the man was all over the place - and gave birth to so many. His influence on contemporary jazz and all black music can only be compared to Robert Johnson, John Coltrane and the tribal cats who used to bang on drums way before the collonial empires came over and enslaved the black population of Africa. So you will never find me dissing Miles in any way.
