hi, looking to replace the pickups on a 1980 gibson SG..

i would like a clean transparent sound, uncoloured, versatile, so that it can be used in many styles, with fx and plugins.. mostly recording DI, sometimes valves.. not harsh or brittle, or murky.

ive looked at these so far...

anyone used these on an SG, or have any other suggestions, even rare or non commercial..

thanks.

And you want bright clean? Sg's and les pauls are horrible for that style. I hate to say it it's going to be hard. Try some soil tapping types of pickups. I have seen some inexpensive from carvin.com Id check there. Also read reviews on harmonycentral.com

If I had a SG, I'd go Gibson BurstBucker Pro.

That'll give you clean, dirty, and snarl if you go high gain.

Of the pickups listed, I'd go with the Seymours. TBH, though, you can get better for a lot less if you look around.

Hey I would really recommend getting that 59' I have a few in some of my guitars and they sound great.

Also the duncan distortion goes pretty well with it, or the JB

Also you should check out the seymour duncan forum, I've gotten some pretty good deals off of there.

Let us know how it goes.
