I've been looking for sites that teach you how to play R&B style guitar but the only thing that shows up on google is rock, blues, and jazz. I'm not looking for any of those nor do I want to build up from those to get the R&B sound. I can't really find anything on youtube anymore either except for guitartrainingcourse. So does anyone know any sites or videos like these??

Bay Area, Mobb, Hyphy, Crunk, Dirty South, R&B, and West Coast beats.

why wouldn't you want to learn any blues style at all when it is part of what r&b stands for? but like Obi said, blues, jazz, and soul would be good. I don't really think there's an r&b style for guitar playing, mostly because r&b is a nice mixture of a lot of different elements.

man guitar on rnb is not very complex, very simple and minimal, a lot of single string, single fret notes, you just gotta learn some blues chords

It's cool thanks guys. I wouldn't have posted this thread if I wanted to find blues. There really are no sites that have r&b or soul style guitar playing I just wanted to see if any of ya'll know any sites. I wasn't looking for advice like that but thanks

ni6apino

what style are you searching for?

the acoustic-electric guitar style

or

the ernie isley/curtis mayfield/eddie hazel electric style

I don't see anything on the web that shows you how to play like that. You may want to hit up one of the gospel websites (I saw some awhile ago, don't remember the name, google - gospel, shed, tutorial, etc).

The reason I point to Gospel is because it's one of the few genres in black music that still features live instrumentation predominantly and also, there's a tight group of musicans who freely share knowledge.

Good call--Curtis Mayfield too. Get some albums and copy. You can learn chords from books, but style comes entirely from listening.
