to contribute to a new web-zine focussing on urban underground culture. I need people who are passionate, obsessive or knowledgable about music, art, film, drugs, society, fashion, ecology, culture and politics to write reviews, fiction and articles. I can't pay you as the 'zine is non-profit, but if you'd like a space to promote your skills, and you'd like to be a part of something that will hopefully be unique, interesting, and challenging, drop me a line or something you've created as long as it's fresh and original. PEACE AND RESPECT slinkkygirl@aol.com

Just to be pedantic (sorry, it's Monday and I'm feeling a little ropey) I'd say there are some forms of trance that are far more underground than jungle in the UK, e.g. psychedelic and possibly acid.

MArk P., sounds great- please drop me a line if you can and i'll tell you more (it will take up too much space to dish out the dirt here).

And widdlywoo, don't apologise for being pedantic- I was being ignorant by making a wild generalisation about trance music not being underground. I actually like psy trance and some goa, it's just that in Australia, we are exposed to so much of the mainstream, irritating, progressive variety, that I tend to make silly comments like that without thinking. Please forgive me. %P

anyway, people, I'm out, got more work on the 'zine to do. E-mail me if you are interested and want to know more.

peace

Thanks wildchilde. I was just getting a bit peeved with all the genre bashing that's going on here lately. Personally, about 50% of trance doesn't appeal to me 1 iota but it just looked like /another/ trance bashing was about to happen and I was bored already

The e'zine looks like a great idea, I'll be sure to check it out.

ah c'mon, trance bashing is fun! hehe well, nahhh, the fact
that there's so poppy trance around corrupts your under-
ground a bit... it's sad but true, our view is a bit
compromised by your top 1 albums

Depends how often you've hear it, hey.

Thing is it all comes down to an argument about faith/taste. E.g. "Trance is crap!", "Why?", "Because it
is" etc etc etc. I just don't care.

How's it possible to dismiss a whole musical genre? Sure, commercialism sucks because of the way it forces producers to make the same old stuff over and over for a particular market. Most of the people on here are probably buying from decent independant record shops anyway so shouldn't be buying the same tired old stuff.
