I don't play guitar, and don't need much in terms of sound. But I am looking for a simple guitar solution for when I bring guitarists into my small project studio.

I am looking for the best value in terms of a price/quality solution that can give me basically the following:

Wah effects (manual wah pedal, not auto-wah)
JC-120 model
Marshall Model

Not too much, as those are the only real sounds I could see myself using, though anything over that is gravy. I make rap beats, if that helps. Don't want to break the bank over it though.

What about the Guitar Rig3, don't they have a version that actually has a DI box with a pedal on it and everything, where u plug in ur guitar and do all the amp modelling in the plugin? I know i peeped the demo a while back, and even tho i was only runnin my mans live bass through it from time to time, i would run alot of other audio through it just for sound manglin purposes. It was pretty cool to use the diff amp models and stuff to warm up and fatten or distort different sounds. I think it might be around the $300 mark or something. I just remember it havin lots of different opions as far as amps, cabs, pedals and such. That might be woth a look, maybe not. Also, Line 6's toneport or pod xt look pretty good on the site, have not actually seen it in action. I went to a dude's crib who played guitar and he had a Crate box that he jacked into which went into the computer and diff cabs and amp models and stuff. crate actually makes real guitar stuff, so i would imagine it's pretty good at what it does. It almost looks kinda like that Blue mic pre with the tube stickin out front. Anyway, thats bout what comes to mind, i'm not a guitarist, so i don't know how good any of that stuff really is compared to the real deals, but it's worth a look. Hope that helps.

I think NI RigKontrol3 is nice, but it's overkill for your purposes (it's an optional audio interface that controls GuitarRig3). You can try GuitarRig3 software separately, but it won't give you the foot controller (you'd need to buy a midi pedal). The pedal is great to control effects, such as Wah and Tremolo, but not required.

All this assuming your audio interface already has a mic/inst preamp (are they the same?) to plug in the guitars. And yes, many people run all kinds of stuff through GR3 because it has really great effects.

You can also look into one of those Boss effects boards, but I'm not familiar with analog effects. It might be cheaper and less of a hassle though.

Yeah, my sound card is solid with line-in and preamps.

I'm still looking for a good MIDI foot controller with pedal and a couple buttons to use with GR3.
