i'm just a beginner to electric guitar, but i would imagine that learning on a 6 string would probably be easier

6 is easier. Try a epiphone acoustic or even a rogue acoustic. I have a martin and ibanez a fender and have owned about 11 different guitars in the past 5 years alone. I highly recomend rogue for under 150. Just after you get it take it to your local music shop spend 30 extra and get it set up. They have a acoustic electric for 119.99

Right now im in the process of learning the guitar. www.looknohands.com is a really helpful site. I already know how to play some piano and chords and scales from there so I kind of know whats going on , but that site is a gold mine of information on chords, and scales. My suggestion is too learn the chords and scales and go from there.

6 string Ibanez...Had a few other cheaper guitars and currently use a piece of crap...But a $200-300 ibanez will last for a quite some time and actually make learning fun. A bad guitar is counterproductive...Trust me, I know.

They're others but, I liked learning on the Ibanez

Yamaha make a good budget acoustic also. Tanglewood too but they are a bit more expensive. Buy the most expensive you can afford... that way it's far more likely you'll continue playing as it will be easier to play and will sound nicer.

I recommend a Taylor. You can find a decent one for around 400-500. Very good acoustics for the price. I don't advocate spending any less than that on an acoustic guitar if you're looking for good feel and sound.

I always thought that the 12-string was to add more high frequency presence when playing chords? that being said, it is evident that learning on a 6-string is much easier

Baby Taylor and Seagull S6 are some other guitars not mentioned. Good sound, and both will keep it's value if you decide to sell later on and upgrade.
