You can buy the latest version of Cubase at any music store (I don't need to mention to not get any piracy involved on this site...).

As for the scratch samples, go to the music portal (on the left menu, you see General > Music Portal) and search for WAV andfree sounds. there is a category for such sites.

By the way, you might check your soundcard to see if it accepts SF2 instruments (Sound Fonts) which you'll create with "Vienna".

You'll need to create patches / instruments to incorporate your WAV files in your soundcard, and THEN you'll be able to trigger / control those sounds via MIDI from Cubase.

Cubase itself doesn't act like a sampler at all. Just so you know. If you have any question regarding the use of Cubase or Cakewalk or anything else, post a new thread.

Take care

You should eb able to download a demo of the new version of cubase(v5) from the steinberg site. http://www.steinberg.net

You can't trigger samples like with a sampler on cubase but it can do everything else a sampler can. It's just a matter of cut & pasting your .wav files instead of triggering them. Getting a SoundFont card means you can trigger samples from your soundcard but these will be in mono so it's best to go for a software sampler/trigger such as Virtual Sampler , gigasampler or UnityAS1 (bitheadz)
For the links to gigasampler and Unity as1 (same people that make the Retro As1 Synth) have a look at my site at http://www.luko.fly.to at the bottom of the musicians / audio section.

Yeah Gigasampler would be good, I wasn't sure if ILuko was up to spend money on cubase even so I didn't mention software synths and samplers. But it is a good idea.

Just get buzz ( http://www.buzztrack.com ). Use "matilde tracker" or "pro tracker 4" (machines used by buzz).
Or: mail me samples and specify --> I'll make some scraching. (It might take a while, I'm busy at the moment)
