Does it create a ringing noise?
My strings also noisy because they touch the frets at the top of the fretboard. I thought it's because my bass is a pile of trash (and it is). But if there is some kind of fix for it, I'd also like to know.
Check to ensure that the string is locked and secure from slippage at the string hole, wrapped around the post correctly, and then Check the saddle and that the string is secure.

you may want to experiment with the truss rod (runs down the neck and can be adjusted at the headstock with a hex), don't make too much of a turn because you can warp the neck.

Co-sign. However, I would suggest leaving truss rods adjustments to an experienced bass/guitar tech if you don't have ANY experience.
It kind of sounds like you may need to have your bass setup. Meaning getting your bridge adjusted and as mentioned an adjustment of your neck. If the bass is an older model you may want to look into getting it re-fretted. These things should be done by an experienced tech.
