I was at the guitar center yesterday & bought a pedal for my bass, (i'm learning to play)and seen the Talk Box below on display..

http://www.musiciansfriend.com/produ...Box?sku=154218

I wondered if I could use it on my keyboard,To sound like Roger Troutman) so I asked if they could demonstrate. Unfortunately, the talk box wasnt working, so i couldnt see it work, then I saw your youtube videos.

My questions are, which brand of talk box Should I get?

Why do I need touse a microphone with it, if the tube is going in my mouth &I'm not opening my mouth?

could I just hook it into Protools, or my MPC and record/track it down?

Could I track it down Using a home made talk Box?

and wich synth sounds should I use with it?

I would Really apreciate it you get back with me ASAP.

examples..

The way the talkbox works is different from what you think!
It's actually much more simple than that.. Imagine having a synthesizer speaker inside your mouth, and you "talk" with your mouth without actually speaking (using synth sound as the source). So your lips and mouth do move and "shape" the synth sound.

I suggest you check out Moot Booxie's "home made" talkbox video.

[edit] Um, nevermind.. you've already seen all the right videos. I've nothing to add then, good sir.

I have a Danelectro Free Speech talkbox. I mostly use it on guitar, but you can route any audio source to it. Not the sort of thing you can use all the time, as it quickly becomes ineffective.

A seeker of the truth is preferable to one who thinks he's found it.
