Hey guys, I have been playing for about a year and half now and I am now able to play basically anything I want with a little pratice, but up to this point I have avoided finger picking...

I am wondering how do I start learning how to do this, because I really just do not know where to start(other then i need to try grow out my nails )...

So is there any videos or books or tips that you guys can recommend that can help me out...

thanks

back in the day i wrote a ditty on acoustic to practice the fingerpickin,
nuttin crazy, just picking sum minors and usin the pinky a lil...
just "pick" some chords you like and pick em instead of strumming...

start slow, and learn on an acoustic (a nylon classical if ya can)

play your standard barre chords and then pick them with your finger.

a great tab for fingerpicking: Kansas' Dust in the Wind

I palm the pick for most things except leads and power chords.

I fingerpick chords, strum chords with fingers (a flick of the wrist) and will pluck chords (kinda like a harpist) on acoustic, electric, strat, any guitar.

kohn, it's a great technique to add to your arsenal, you'll find that it gives a different tone and you can get different rythmic variations playing with your fingers.
