I've been making beats for about 2 years. I've been just sampling and using loops, now I want to do more. I have fruity loops studio 5 and cool pro edit. I don't like the sounds in FL and wanted to if anyone can explain VST and soundfonts. Also where to find free VSTs and Soundfonts.
If all you've been doin so far with samples is looping, although there's nothing wrong with that in itself, you have a LOT left to discover about the near-limitless craft of sampling. Don't give up on it yet man, the time and patience it takes to learn chopping/rearranging, where to look for the best samples, and etc is incredibly worth it in the end.
Get you something hands on like a Triton Extreme or a Motif. Keyboards alot of times spark creativity! Still sample; but play around with what you hear in the sample on your keyboard.
