it's called an Ebow. we have one guitar player in my band who uses one exclusively, they are really neat toys. we've got one in action on every song except the most recent on my myspace, which i think can be accessed via my profile.

i highly recommend them, they're pretty neat. takes a little technique to get it to work right, though.
