I find that sampling records to find drums is sometimes difficult. When i try i often run into sounds in the background. I havent ran into to many drums or clap without it. Where to yall get your sounds from, I know everybody dont just use sampled drums only.

sampled drums off records and other songs, turn on mic record random **** and make that into percussion, and stock drums out the fantom..

if you find it to difficult to chop drums off a record u really are missin the whole point of the thing... but im an hater anyways but i think people miss a lot by tryin to do things easier like people who chop samples using auto chop functions instead of just makin there own chops...

Funk and soul records. Lots of breaks which makes it easy to chop. But you can find breaks in any kind of music, they're most common in funk and soul though.

You are probably looking in the wrong places. And don't forget that creative filtering can be a god send sometimes. I filter hats and stuff out of my kicks religously

Don't get discouraged... trust me... something good will come out of 'trial and error'. The more you try to get a particular sound... you might be able to create something different. Anyone who's been sampling for awhile will tell you... you may not find exactly what you want, but you can manage what you found. Like, using a fraction of a sound to create a unique sample(such as "your" version of a kick or snare).

Hey wsup man. I feel what you were sayin about drum sounds. I know that there are "unspoken rules" of hip-hop production but I don't care about any of that. I rarely sample for drum sounds from vinyl, so i cop from elsewhere. You may wanna start with kicksandsnares.com and bangin-beats.com. However don't let buying drum sounds stiffle your creativity or contribute to getting lazy. There's still a lot that can be done with filtering, eq, and other processing.

Good luck.

Thanks to everybody 4 there input. And its not that I'm lookin 4 the easy way out, I must have just been searchin on the wrong records. B 4 yall search 4 drums on a record do u just listen 4 a clean drum or whatever. Cause I've noticed that a lot of new records rarley have breaks with just drums and what not. U usually get a synth in the background if u do find a break at all.
